It seemed like, as soon as I discovered this magnificent poet, singer and song writer, he was gone.




Jim Croce, Maury Muchleisen, (Jim's lead guitarist and constant companion) and 4 others were all killed on September 20, 1973 when their plane snagged the treetop at the end of the runway outside of Natchitoches La.

If you listen to his songs you will understand that the world lost someone special. But those who where too young, or blinked and missed, will never know the true charm of his personality. It shone through in his T.V. specials and live concerts.


I first noticed Jim on one of his T.V. specials. I couldn't get over the contrast of his gruff exterior, and the softness in his eyes. I thought,"how could someone who looked like that sing such beautiful songs." Not all his songs where beautiful, but his insight and sense of humor, always shone through.

After he was gone I played his songs constantly and felt he was still among us. But time went on and the old 8 tracks were stored away along with my memories.

Then, at my son's wedding, I was surprised when ne chose "Time In A Bottle" for our Mother and Son dance. All of the magical feelings Jim's music had given me came flooding back.... I would like to take this time to say..."Thank you Tom for paying attention!" I'll let Jim's word express my feelings towards him.
